Hi Paul,

    I haven't even tried it in Win7, because I don't have one. I really 
don't know if allowio (http://www.beyondlogic.org/porttalk/porttalk.htm) 
works for Win7, that is the key to everything.
    I've been using it in Win98 and WinXP.
    As for USB COM ports, they should work just fine, but configuring them 
can be tricky.
