Howdy - - -

This is George - W7TTY, the guy who runs ITTY.

I see you are located in Santa Rosa. I have an uncle who lives there. Square
dancing is his thing, and you might have heard of Wischemann Hall. That is
his jernt.

Currently on ebay there is a HAL ST-6 that is sitting at around 26 bucks. It
is being auctioned by Jack Hart, K0TTY, and Jack always sells GOOD stuff.

You might want to up the ante on it and see how you do.

The ST-6 was designed by Irv Hoff, W7FFC, (long deceased) and the design has
been around for around 42 years. I drew the original schematic of it from
Irv's notes after he became satisfied with the design. It is a workhorse
type of unit. They just sit there and run.

I see from the QRZ photo that you sit in a museum. Nice job.

You might want to consider running out to Point Reyes City and go beyond
about fifteen miles or so and visit the trooops at the old KPH site out on
Point Reyes.

Dick Dillman, W6AWO is the Chief Op out there and a real nice guy, and a
master CW operator.

They are out there every Saturday from maybe nine in the morning on, and
that is the day that the KPH/KSM Maritime Historical Stations are on the
air. KSM is the transmitter site at Bolinas.

If you get into a real pinch I might be able to come up with something to
help. I am currently going through a pair of Electrocom 402DL Terminal
units. Interesting design, sort of a forerunner to the Dovetron, in that
they are heterodyne-type terminal units that use identical bandpass filters
for the signal processing.

I don't care that much for the Dovetron units as they use an EXAR 2206
function generator for the oscillator, which is essentially a voltage
controlled device. There are too many connectors between the oscillators and
the control pots, so they tend to drift a bit with time, due to resistance
change in the slip fittings of the connectors.

Welcome to the world of RTTY. GreenKeys has a pile of knowledgeable people,
and most qustions are answered quickly.

Good Luck, and Welcome to the Fold.

73,

George - W7TTY - ITTY Central
