Merry Christmas!

THis has been a great ear for my collection, and great 
strides have been made during the year. I wand to wish 
everyone on the list a Very Merry Christmas, and a Happy 
New Year!

Below you will find a little note describing a slightly off-
topic occurance in our household.

Bobbi's first Christmas tree:

 As did many others, we decorated our Christmas tree last 
weekend. Now, there were three small obstacles in our way, 
namely Smokey, Amber, and Bobbi, our three cats. This will 
be Smokey's third Christmas, Amber's second, and Bobbi's 
first. We have learned over the years, that cats love 
Christmas just as much as children do.

While we assembled the artificial tree, we had to fend off 
three little varmints, who, as we assembled it, were trying 
to climb it. When we got it almost erected, Bobbi made it 
all the way to the top! Was that an angel on top of the 
tree? No, its an bratty, wee excited cat! She kept peeking 
at us from between the branches as she climbed. She knew 
she shouldn't do it, but we were patient, knowing it was 
her first experience with a tree. We finally did get it 
decorated, then three cats lined up under it to look up the 
majestic tree at the ornaments and lights. Needless to say, 
we firmly guyed the tree against the four legged marauders.

The next morning, we really didn't expect the tree to still 
be upright, but got up to find only a few balls on the 
floor, some tinsel rope off, but the tree undamaged. 
Boldly, as Linda tried to re-hang the first ball, Bobbi 
promptly golfed it back off. I mention Bobbi's part in all 
of this, but all three were involved. We are thinking that 
this may be the tree's last year, and that next year, we 
may replace it with a new smaller one. I am glad though, 
that all of our furry babies each had a chance to enjoy the 
tree. By Tuesday, they were pretty well leaving it alone - 
the novelty must have passed. In years past, some of our 
cats have known there would be presents for them, and have 
dug under it, found them, and opened their presents before 
Christmas day. It is amazing how they could sniff them out! 
We have learned to put the cat gifts under the tree at the 
last moment. The tree looks a bit rough thanks to several 
years running of damage from the beasts, but they love it 
so much!

I have always loved children's first experience with 
Christmas and Christmas trees - even when that kid is a wee 
cat!
