Just for interest, a friend of mine and I used to regularly use 75 speed
between us on a 2M simplex channel. Both of us had 3 speed
transmissions in our 28s and both of us could type faster than 60 speed
so by going to 75 at least I would not run into the locked keyboard.
Even going to 100 speed was not enough for Stan to not run into the
locked keyboard as he could type in excess of 125WPM). And although we
ran 100 now and then, I agree that it just sounded frantic (to use the
word that several others have said).
