Hi All:

I have been asked to, and will put an overview of hooking
up an ASR-33 teletype using a telebyte M65A interface on my
page.

I will show the exact terminal strip connections on both
the Telebyte and on the ASR-33. It will likely due to other
comittments, take me about a week.

For the time being:

Connections to the teletype go to the terminal strip on the
back of the teletype power supply. I use 2 pair telephone
cable.

TTY terminal strip: 3 4 6 7
Telebyte 65A: G C+ G K+

Settings for Telebyte interface: Full Duplex, Active.
DTE/DCE will only work in one position. I will have to
confirm which position I left it in.

If using Heavy Metal to feed, set it to: Teletype: 110
baud, 2 stop bits, word length 8, parity even.

I will go over my machine to confirm all these settings
after this coming weekend and post this information to my
page, including a shot of the teletype terminal strip with
the connections made, and a photo of the Telebyte switch
settings.

With some machines, such as my computer, you will require a
DB25 pin female to DB9 pin female adapter or cable to
connect the M65A to your computer. If you are fortunate
enough to have the RS-232 of your computer brought out in
25 pin, the Telebyte will attach directly. These
cables/adaptors are available on eBay for a few dollars.
Just make certain that you get a female to female adaptor.

I have ordered one of these, but for the time being am
using a DB25 pin male to DB9 pin female cable with a gender
changer on the male end.

As you can see, it works!
