Hi, Don.
Thinking of you when I stumbled across this (incorrect) explanation
of QWERTY keyboards.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10925456
The article incorrectly claims that QWERTY was chosen to “slow down”
typists.
...You and I know that the design prevented adjacent letters in English
words from jamming the keys when pressed in rapid succession – an
explanation which Wikipedia gets right. In fact, the entire Wikipedia
article is well-written, complete, and interesting (at least to me).
While it is often said that QWERTY was designed to "slow down"
typists, this is incorrect – it was designed to prevent jams.
(from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QWERTY )
Thinking of you,
Frank
