Sir Charles Wheatstone, inventor of electrical telegraphy along with
William Cooke. He later developed the method of sending high speed Morse
using paper tape. Originally tape was punched by a manual punch using a
stick held in each fist. Later Wheatstone developed a pneumatically
powered punch. The tape was transmitted to line by a device like this:
