It IS a "Teletype Perforator". It is a perforator made by the Teletype
Corp. Although we are most familiar with the 5-hole perforators made by
Teletype Corp, they also made perforators for 2, 6, & 8 hole systems.
Teletype Corp. made more than just the 5-level teletypewriters that they
are best know for. So we should be careful of the use of the word
"teletype" when speaking of teletypewiters. Not all teletypewriters were
made by the Teletype Corp. (There were at least three other manufactures in
the US during the last century.) And not everything that the Teletype Corp
made were teletypewriters.
Then to confuse matters more, we have the Wheatstone Perforators that were
mainly manufactured by Teletype Corp, but were refered to as "Kleins"
because Edwin Kleinschmidt invented it an made the first ones. (Where does
the name "Wheatstone" come from??)
OK, I'll get off my soapbox now, just a pet peve of mine about using trade
names generically. (Perhaps due to working a Xerox Corp. for a while.)
Probably something that is too ingrained to correct at this late date. Even
the US Signal Corps TMs for the Kleinschmitd TT-4, TT-76, TT-98, etc used
the term "teletype" to describe them.
Have fun,
Duncan
