[GreenKeys] Reperf punch update

FWIW, an update on my 28RT reperf project where some holes punched OK
and others barely poked the tape.
Evidence at http://www.navy-radio.com/tty/28rt/IMG_2052.JPG

Well, I finally decided that the punch slides or the slide post
that moves them really must be worn - the slides for the non-working
holes clearly had some free play and weren't lifting the pins as far.
So last night I gritted my teeth, cleared off my bench, and removed
the punch sub-assembly (punch block, punch slides, toggle bail, etc. -
see http://www.navy-radio.com/tty/28rt/perf-71.JPG )
from the rest of the reperf (selector, transfer latches, frame,
printer, etc.). This reperf does not have the power backspace so that
made it easier. Then I sneaked out the two bad punch slides and
sneaked in some from a busted reperf that I disassembled. I am
*Extremely Glad* I was able to sneak these slides out/in, as I very
much doubt I would have ever been able to completely disassemble this
thing and re-assemble it to working condition - Geez, there are a lot
of interconnected little parts in these gadgets!!!
Then I re-gritted my teeth and attached the punch sub-assembly back
to the rest of the mechanism, spending a good while fiddling the punch
slides to mesh with the transfer levers and punch slide latches OK.
Now all 5 punch pins get pushed up OK, but the selected punch slides
don't get reset by the punch slide reset bail properly at the end of
the cycle so I still haven't got something lined up right. I'm hoping
another session tonight will fix that. Wish me luck.
If you have read this far, you must be interested or amused by my
fumbling novice efforts. Thanks for the help and encouragement - this
is a great group of folks.
cheers,
Nick K4NYW
