Subject: [GreenKeys] Model 28 XASR ??!

Hi George & Bill:

I really didn't want to tell anyone, but when I got out of the army in '65
I had a chance to "grab" parts of these. It was in the comm center
maintainence bunker in Germany. It was so "hush-hush" that there were only 3
people authorized to even look at it. The operator, (Don't ask me what he
did..I wasn't authorized to know.)
And me--the TT maintainer, and an electrical genius. It even had its own
dedicated KW-26 (ROMULUS) crypto machine. I never saw so much
electronic/electrical crap jammed into such a small space. But true to the
28 legacy, it never failed as long as it was cleaned and lubed. The worst
problem was the landline circuits that the German telecom took care of.
Any way, they were going to replace it, (It had been there for years.) and
they were going to "de-mil-it" with thermite grenades, sledge hammers, and
generally destroy it. I tired to save the printers and reperfs, but the
"spooks" got there before me. Oh well....Cool machine.
