[GreenKeys] KSR-33 HELP!!

More on KSR-33 Problem:

Original problem - would space when numeral keys, but no 
when a letter key was pressed. Code bars are moving, but 
space pawl wasn't when letter key pressed.

This afternoon, I decided to take a reasoned approach back 
to where it was working correctly. I noted that the spacing 
cam operated when a number key was pressed, and not when a 
letter key was. Following the spacing lever back, it takes 
you to the selector  cams.  I could see nothing visually 
wrong given my limited experience.

As an experiment, I noted the setting on the range scale 
from the pointer (20) then slightly increased it - the 
letter keys almost advanced the carriage.

By increasing the pointer on the range scale to almost 60, 
the letters began advancing the carriage reliably. It also 
worked with numerals. However, the CR key became less 
reliable until it had been on for a time. This appears like 
it might work itself out after some use.

My question is: why would this setting need to change to 
make it operate correctly? Is there something back up the 
line from the selector not  quite up to par?

I would appreciate any suggestions. It is working now, but 
there may still be a problem behind it.
