Here's another TTY-related tidbit - perhaps interesting, even if
unimportant. It is a 15 pfennig postage stamp from the DDR (East Germany)
depicting a teleprinter keyboard operator. A little quick research indicates
that it is Scott No. 161, and that it was issued in 1953 as a part of a set
of 18 stamps for a five-year plan (this is the '5' in the stamp,
I would think). Here's a scan of it:

A check of Wikimedia Commons indicates that postage stamps of Germany
(and of the former DDR) are "official works" and in the public domain.
I scanned this one from an original that I just got, and the scan is
PD as well. So if anyone wants a 1953 iron curtain teleprinter operator
stamp for, say, embellishing a web page - have fun.

David M.
