Sorry for the typo and confusion... 

Yes, I am using a ST8000...not a ST8000A....in front of my old trusty PK232... 

Once you get through my typo, the meat of the message was that there is a may be a better way of using the ST8000 and its regen feature...by using the other terminal of the ST8000. 

Again, sorry for the typo...and thanks to all for the help and necessary clarifications!...
