I'm totally unfamiliar with that radio, but I'm inclined to take a dim
view of such things. The best excuse I can think of for it is that you
want a radio that doesn't require a computer or other hardware on the
side. But we have such good demodulators in the computer soundcard
products, and there are so many new modes coming along all the time,
that anything built into the radio is likely to be outperformed and
outdated in short time.
I'm an RTTYer from waaay back, and I love the aroma of Teletype oil, but
the fact is that RTTY doesn't perform very well in comparison to some
of the newer stuff that is out there, particularly if you aren't running
a lot of power. Its main advantage for DX and contesting is that you
get very quick turnaround time. (And that you don't care too much about
errors because you already know the call sign of the station you are
working, and you know the signal report is 599; so if the copy looks about
like what you want it to, you call it good.)
