To the gentleman having troubles with the slow carriage return:
Previous advice is right on, you need to clean and lube the machine,
especially the carriage area. Sometimes you can shorten the carriage return
spring an inch or so to help.
Also, the proper sequence is CR, LF, LTRS (or delete) on every line. That
will help a machine with slow return problems. Cleaning the dashpot parts
with solvent is a good idea as well. I always put a little oil on them
after cleaning. They will get oily as they run, so might as well oil em and
adjust the air lever with some oil on the plunger and cup.
Follow up on the 32 and 33 comment I made, I used to work on 28's and 35's
and liked them very much, but as time went on seemed to do more and more 32
and 33 work until that became my niche. Its all I have parts for as
well. 32 and 33's were very under-rated when they first came out. They will
last long time with good care.
