[GreenKeys] question regarding your Teletype...

Dear Susan,

These are tough days with the current economic situation. Too many
machines have gone to scrap. No funding was available for our museum
so everything was deeded to the San Diego State University Library.
Amateur radio operators are still using 5 level machines. Depending
on the type of machine and the location the value can vary
significantly. Some machines are made available for free if someone
will give them a home. Other machines are extremely rare and command
a price of a hundred dollars or more. An average is meaningless as
the supply and demand vary in every location across the country.

If you can email an image of your machine to me, our email reflector
may be able to find your Teletype a new home. The value would be in
the collective "eye" of the interest group.

Sorry I cannot be more specific.

Best regards,

Hello, I just reviewed your website for the museum. I was pleased to
see these machines are being preserved.

I have had one in my garage for a number of years. I used it to
communicate with my two deaf sisters until modern machines were
invented. It is iron. I was told it was from a world war two ship.
From your images, it might be a 5 level teletype machine.

I am wondering if you can refer me to sites for connecting with
someone who might be interested in buying it or be able to tell me if
it is of value or need one for a collection such as yours. Do you have
any advice?

Thank you,
