[GreenKeys] paper tape 3/8" available

Hello Henning,

I am suggesting that they make the paper tape 5/16" (8 mm) wide. The
skinny tape will work in both 5/16 and 3/8 strip printers but not in
1/2" strip printers. The WUTCo 2B uses 5/16" but the Model 14 uses
3/8". In my experience there are more 2B strip printers than M14 strip
printers. Western Union is infamous for making their tape as skinny
as possible to save money. Their 8 level ASCII tape was 7/8 inch wide
instead of the standard 1 inch.

I just found the INFORMATION ON STATIONERY FOR TELETYPEWRITERS
P70.253 dated DECEMBER 1961. It reads that the tape for the M14 strip
printer shall be no less than 0.36 inch and no wider than 0.38 inch.
The roll of paper tape I have here is 0.38 inch wide and has a large
core of 2 inches since it was made for a "Dictum Tape Recorder" in
1949. It will NOT go through the 2B strip printer.

The practice also states that the outer diameter of the roll should be
8 inches plus or minus 1/8 inch. The core should be no less than
11/16 inch and no more than 7/8 inch. They prefer that the tape be
wound on a wooden spool with an inside diameter at least 25/64 inch
and no larger than 27/64 inch.

I will send you a scan into a PDF of the complete practice on a
separate email along with others on my NADCOMM distribution list.

Best,
Don

hello to the list,

our group of teleprinter collectors here in Germany has found a paper
company
that would produce 3/8" (9.5 mm) wide paper tape for us for use in strip
tape printers.

The paper will match into almost all machines that use 9.5mm (3/8") wide
paper
like Siemens T68, T34, Lorenz T36Lo, and as far as I know also into the
Western
Union telegram machines and other Creed and Olivetti machines that
were in
use
in telegram service.

The paper rolls have a lenght of 321 meters ~ 1,053 ft and a core
diameter
of 70 mm (2.76")
and are made of white paper.
They are NOT gummed like originally, hence it is better for long time
storage.

Price per roll is 1.70 EURO = 2.50 USD

Shipping costs depend on the destination country of course.
What I have determined by now are 20 USD for a box of 8 rolls to the
U.S.
and 50 USD for a box of 20 rolls to the U.S.

Please contact me until November 20th if you want to affiliate to our
bulk
order.

regards from Germany,
Henning DF3OE
