[GreenKeys] I hope this has not been discussed before

Hi,

I had an idea that I would like to get feedback on. As has been pointed out here on Greenkeys, there are no HF sources of RTTY news feeds. I presently use Heavy Metal to get AP headlines, which is fun, but leaves me wanting more.

I wonder if there would be a way for a bunch of TTY enthusiasts to put together a system where one could dial in over landline phone and send and receive news or whatever. I know that there are some landline telegraphers that have something similar. They have their vintage telegraph equipment set up, including relays, crow foot batteries, sounders and keys among other things, then hidden out of site is a 'black box' that interfaces their set up with the POTS. (I suppose that it is like a TU, where it codes and decodes a tone for the open/close nature of the telegraph...or maybe it is even more complicated with something that interfaces with the forward/reverse current of long haul landlines...I don't know.)

Would this be doable?

Just a thought.

Best and 73
