Hi folks,
I need to make some space in my shack (actually in my shack rack). I have
for sale a very decent M600 (Or M600A, not sure the difference, mine says
M-600 on it) that seems to work fine. This is a TU that takes audio input
from your radio and outputs it to a video monitor (very cool!) It also (I
think) has a parallel printer output, but I've never played with that. I
will note that some M600's have a built in loop supply, this one does not.
But I believe it can be added with a few parts. Even if it can't, I wonder
if it can be configured to key an external loop.
I also have a manual to this which includes a schematic and lots of other
documentation in general. This unit is supposed to decode RTTY, CW,
TOR-SITOR, variable and fixed shifts etc. Also has the weather font for the
special weather text stuff. Interestingly, this unit can allow you to
switch between two different size fonts on the screen. I chose the smallest
one (see pictures) but there is a larger one that fills the screen up
faster.
Covers all speeds and shifts of baudot, ascii, cw, etc. I have never used
any of those modes except 170Hz 60wpm rtty fine business.
The unit also comes with rack handles and rack mount ears. If you don't want
to rack mount it, just take 'em off and stick some rubber feet on the bottom
and you have a nice desktop unit.
Price of this from Universal (from an original sales sheet) was $799! I have
no idea what year this product is from.
Also selling with this is a 19" wide set of 3 black and white monitors (5"
monitors?). These seem to work fine, the on/off switches need to be "worked"
once in a while or they don't trigger well. I have always used these with an
external switch. Also the various pots to control the vertical, etc
(yes...we control the vertical!) are noisy and could use some cleaner or
just more "playing" to get the results right.
Pictures can be see here.

I should point out that the text on the screen is very sharp. The camera did
not do it justice. I had to turn off the flash and try to hold the camera
very still to take the photo.
One other note, for some reason, many of the countersunk machine screws that
hold the cabinet together have surface rust. The rest of the unit is in very
good shape.
Shipping? I will ship in two boxes, one for video monitors and one for M600.
Its not the cheapest route, but my local UPS store does a fantastic job of
packing. I wont know exactly how much it will cost to pack and ship, we'll
find out once we have a buyer.
So... How much? I dunno. The monitors weren't cheap, and the M600 seems to
be a pretty good unit. Anyone give $250+shipping for the whole shootin'
match? Otherwise make an offer I cant refuse. Would also consider a trade.
For what? I dunno. Whatdya got?

PS. I also have some ST-6 parts units that I should really part with. But
that will have to wait for another day for photos. One of these days I'll
get around to parting with 'em.
