Jeffery,

That sounds like a TT-523/GGC "Low Level Converter" - it mounted on the
back of the Kleinschmidt TT-76 Reperforator/Tape reader.  We have one at
the AWA Museum that came in as part of an AN/GRC-142 RTTY system.

I never saw a TT-523 in the Army, our TT-76s just connected directly
through 4-5 feet of shielded cable to the KW-7 crypto gear.  I  think it
ran 50 microamperes in the TX loop.  (we had to keep the contacts clean!)
