The UGC-129 was also used in airborne and missile LCF applications.

The UGC-129(V)1 on eBay is an upgraded version of the one that Fair Radio
had.
The main differences between the 2 were the (V)1 had more memory and a
display so you could make sure that you were typing the correct thing into
memory.
Both models were considered portable because they had handles on the sides
but were mainly used (at least in the USAF) in mobile communications vans.
They could be converted from RO to Send/Receive by simply unscrewing two
thumb screws on the front and pull the keyboard off. Other than that, the
description from Fair Radio that was quoted by Jeffery is pretty much dead
on.
The power connector can be easily replaced with a salvaged power connector
from a computer power supply and a little sheet metal work. I can provide
pictures if wanted.
