I need to throw in a concept correction here. Most Teletype collectors
don't know MS connectors from directly heated cathode tubes. And AN/UGC-129 is
too new for the girls I go with to consider fooling with so I don't know
specifically which connectors it uses. But "MS series connectors" is a
generic term that just means connector families approved for purchase by DOD since
about 1951. Before that they were known as "AN Connectors". Price of MS
connectors today varies everywhere from about $15.00 (new or good used) to
$300.00 each. If the UGC-129 is old enough for Fair to have had them and then
sold out then the odds are that there are several variants of the
connectors that fit it. The expensive variant will have crimp rear insert contacts.
And the crimping tool costs more than the connectors. You can teach a
moderately bright monkey to assemble those. Which is one of two reasons that
they were made. The less expensive down to relative cheap (in today's
dollars, anyway) ones will still have solder contacts. You can't teach a bright
monkey to assemble one. But he can keep you company while you do it. :-)
