Dave & the gang -
Clatternet is on the air at 0930 Pacific time on Saturdays, currently
we are on 3587 KHz. We use standard military 850 shift "MARK LOW" tones
- MARK = 1575 & SPACE = 2425 on USB, always 60WPM.
We chose these tones so that we would be compatible with the largest
number of military RTTY sets. Compatible military gear includes the
GRC-106 & MD-522 and the PRC-47 & CV-2455, plus many others.
Clatternet has been on the air since 2001 or so, back then we used
10137 USB. As propagation faded, we moved first to 7087, and then to
the current freq of 3587.
When 10137 was in good shape, clatternet was like wireline all up &
down the west coast, we had 11 checkins on one Saturday back then.
Lately on 3587 we are sometimes down to three regulars, Al W6GER & Mike
W7NPA & myself, but we rarely miss a Saturday. Al runs Kleinschmidt
gear, generally with a Dovetron & Sunair radio. Mike is usually on a
Model 15 or a Model 28 with a GRC-106 & MD-522. I use a Model 28
skintight, a Dovetron, and a Sunair radio at home, or maybe a PRC-47 &
CV-2455 and a 28V MITE teleprinter for portable ops.
Join us if you can hear us.
