Most of these devices keep you running for about 8-10 hours

I thought'd I chime in here. I too have vonage. My ISP is Verizon FIOS
(20Mbps!). The fios dmarc box has its own battery backup. So I just
use a
cheap and very small garden variety UPS on my router and I can keep my
phone
working during power outages. Well at least as long as the batteries
last!

Iv'e got a Vonage VTA-VD and I can't seem to locate
an REN rating. I've never had any problems with
ringing, but I think I know why, the Panasonic
cordless phone set we use with the Vonage box is
a 0.18 REN, not much of a challenge.

Don, you are right, when we lose power at the house
or any problems with the ISP, we lose our VoIP, but
locality for us makes VoIP with its inherent issues
a financially wise decision. Plus we have a local
wired phone and a local cell phone, should we need
that connectivity.
