Reading the book and playing with my "new" ST-8000A tonite, I've decided 
that I got a fantastic return on my tax dollar...LOL

What a great toy.  I'm changing out the Mil connectors and using simple 
RCA's for audio in and out.  A DB-9 for the data....all this done by Jack on 
his units.  I'm installing the postage stamp size loop keyer designed by Tom 
and providing a loop tip/sleeve isolated from ground jack.

This HAL unit is the cat's meow.
