Jim,
Since I didn't see a flood of answers to your query, I'll take a stab at it.
I used a DT-600 for many years and it works well (as well as the ST-6) at
what it was designed to do. It was not designed with teletype machines in
mind, but as one part of a "Data System", using a computer, hence the
terminology DT-600 for Data Terminal - 600. It is basically an ST-6 on one
double sided board, BUT without power supply, loop supply, or AFSK generator
and it is a single shift unit (usually built for 170 cycle shift). It takes
external equipment to be a complete "modem" for model 15 or 28's or a
computer for that matter. That said, it is EXCELLENT at demodulating RTTY
signals IF the toroid coil tuned circuits are tuned right on frequency so
the shift is close. Should you decide to get it going and built the other
devices needed, email and I'll see if I can dig up some info to help you in
my "archives". I have one that has been built that I need to make sure
works and get it going myself. Of course, if you decide to sell yours, I
would enjoy building another too, hi. I have a "basket case" ST-6000 that
could provide a case and a new XTK-1 AFSK generator that would make a nice
unit (using the power supply of the ST-6000) and built in
scope.............hummm, another project, hi. Let me know if I can help
further, James. I LOVE the old TU's.
73,
Don, WB5HAK
