A young sailor that served on my Dad's ship from 1943 to 1946 told me  
that he was transferred from the deck division to communications.
They used some voice and much CW.  He said that when he left the ship  
in 1946 they were just installing a Teletype machine.
The Rotanin AK-108, was a attack transport and cargo ship.  It would  
seem that other major combatant ships would have received their  
machines a bit earlier.

One of the machines in the museum collection is a WWII vintage M19  
that was restored by the San Francisco U.S. Navy Shipyard in 1957.
