Better connect up that old ST-6000, it will outcopy any Dovetron I've tried, as well as the ST-8000A, which is a form, fit, and function clone of the Frederick 1280 for the USAF.  My ST-8000 remains at the top of the heap for weak signal performance on the ham bands, but I've never owned a TT/L-2 (donations welcome).

Not wanting to start a "my grease is better than yours" debate, but my
vote
is for the TT/L-2 as the best ever RTTY converter. I built mine when
the article
came out in QST (around 1965?) and it was amazing. Next to that is the
Dovetron...I'll admit that I haven't used my ST-6000 on RTTY and,
since it's
roughly a TT/L-2 solid-stated, it would probably work fine.
