I asked HAL about the LP-1200A loop supplies, this is the response I got.

Some how, I doubt they're going to give up the "how to make them"
information.
By the way, I just bought the DSRTTY-Win software from HAL. After talking
with them about it, they assured me it works specifically with Windows
XP and
includes 45 baud 5-level input and output through the serial ports.
Considering what the ST-8000A cost new, I really don't have any issues with
spending the money to buy what I know is going to work with it.
Side note: I ran across some free ware on a French website for talking
to the
tty stuff, http://rxcontrol.free.fr/TTYTerm/index.html and as to be
expected, it
has issues with communication via PCI based serial ports. I.e., sending the
data in blocks rather than individual character. I did however at least
get some
garbled text through the TU from the ITTY stream so it was good to see some
results at last.
