Another idea while you are waiting on the experts.
 
See if it will type continous "R" or "Y".  If it does correctly, then 
something is not moving fast enuf to keep up with the changes.  The reperf I had here 
recently had those symptoms.  I didnt work on it, just passed it along to 
_Weather at surf_ (mailto:Weather at surf) .
