[GreenKeys] Non-detergent oil for Teletype machines

Yes, Wayne, the oil question seems perpetual. Some years ago I bought an Uzi pistol and almost returned it because of constant jamming. A co-worker told me that everyone, except me apparently, knew which oil to use. I tried it and the Uzi never jammed again. Since that time I've learned that the world class bicycle competitors also use it as do the cub scout winners of Pinewood Derbies! I acquired a model 19 last year that was so stiff that the motor could barely be turned by hand. After cleaning I applied this very low viscosity lubricant and the motor would then spin and coast to a stop only after the normal spring loading increased. I've tried mentioning my experience on this reflector but no one believes me! Remember, a good lubricant has the property of keeping materials from actual contact at extreme temperatures and they don't dry out or gum. Now I'll go back into my gorilla cage.
And if anyone has access to spare key caps for a model 15 let me know.

I can't beleive there are again about 50 answeres to the oil question again.
I think this comes up at least once a year.
For over 17 years I have used nothing but 3 in one oil on my 19 and 14 machines and they do run daily.
You can usually get 10W non-detergent at your local ACE hardware. If not in stock ask them to order you a case.
I will bet that at about this time next spring, someone will again mention oil, and then we will have 50 more responses.
