John -- The tuning scope outputs are available on the rear panel J1
"Data I/O" port;
Pin #7 = space
Pin #9 = mark
Pin #12 = tuning scope ground
You're gonna have to make all your connections using the Bendix
circular connectors (unless you do a MAJOR rebuild of the rear
panel). All the connection info is in the manual but it took me a
while to figure it all out. I've got a page of my connector/
connections info that I will send you separately.....your mileage may
vary. Make SURE you're putting the pins into the correct holes in
the connector as they are VERY difficult to extract once they self-
lock into place (I know this from personal experience!).
What I did was create three "donggles" with the circular connectors
on one end and common audio and computer connectors on the other.
Note that unlike the ST-8000 there is no direct FSK capability on the
ST-8000A so if you use the ST-8000A directly as your modem that you
will be using AFSK. If you must have FSK it can be done but you'll
have to build an interface along the lines of:
http://k4dsp.homeip.net/~doug/regenerator/
Hope this helps a little.
