Overkill to be sure - but IMHO - you can't do much better than the 
Technical Material TIS-3...  One was on ebay recently - though I didn't 
see what it eventually went for - but they do come along from time-to-time.

You might build one from the "essential" parts of the schematic, if you 
care to build something... The manual is available on line (though I 
don't recall where)- if you can't find it - I can put it on my server 
for you to down load.
