The 28 uses a standard typewriter ribbon, so any colors available in 
that type ribbon can be used. You can also roll (wind) your own - we 
used to do this with a couple of Christmas TTY art pictures. We'd print 
a Christmas tree in black, then load it back in the printer, change the 
ribbon and print it again - only this time - green, (then red and blue) 
"lights". Been a long time - and I don't think we still have that 
tape...  but yes, it certainly can be done.

Actually - ribbon shift IS an available option for the model 28. None of 
ours ever had it - but I've seen it on some Navy units - esp. ones used 
in crypto work.

You might try soaking the ink out of new B76 ribbons, dry them and then 
re-ink them with color inks. The hard part would be finding appropriate 
ink... (well, and cleaning your hands after handling the ribbons!).
