Well, apparently I am older than dirt, because I do remember that sound.  Of course, the first phone number that my folks had me memorize began with 'Granite-4'.
 
On the bright side, I found my new ring tone!

No, no it doesn't talk....it cries like a baby when it goes to a no such number point on a vacant selector.  You can hear a cry baby at Paul Wills site...Cedar Knolls Telephone Company....here's his cry baby....if you remember hearing one of these, you're older than dirt !
