Amen, God only knows how many guys Jack has helped with TTY's,
facilitating acquisition of machines, parts or information.
Congratulations Joe, hope to see you on the air. Dave, WW8S

You have no idea how sad we folks on the east coast were when we learned
that Jack had moved West! But our loss is your gain!
Congrats!Eugene

Subject: [GreenKeys] ASR 28

RYRYRYRYRYRYRYRY Today, I obtained my first teletype unit that I have had
in over twenty years. It is a beautiful ASR 28, courtesy of Jack WA2HWJ.
The two of us got it loaded into the bed of my Nissan, and my niece's
boyfriend and I managed to get it into my shack safely. Plugged it in and
it works fine. (It survived the trip, hihi.) I am going to have a friend
of mine who works in the automotive upholstery business make a dust cover
out of heavy denim for it, though if I have my way, it will be running
more than not, so it won't be covered all that much! The first thing that
I will concentrate on now is to get an RS-232 to current loop converter
and get it running on Heavy Metal. (Now I know why they call it 'heavy
metal'...) The next thing that I will do is to get the TT/L-2 TU that I
also obtained from Jack running. I will need to go through the unit and
replace the electrolytic caps in the powersupply. I do not want to burn
up those transformers. I will post some images later tonight on
photobucket for your viewing pleasure. I am interested in finding out who
built the TT/L-2 as it was very professionally built, far better than
anything that I could manage to construct from scratch. I am very
impressed with that unit. I do want to specifically thank Jack WA2HWJ for
his generosity and help with getting me going in 'real' RTTY. I hope by
this summertime to be on HF with a solid, genuine electromechanical RTTY
signal, and hope to be able to QSO with as many of you on Greenkeys as I
can. Best and 73, Joe KB0TXC /NNNN
