" My son-in-law AT&T cable splicer dropped off a plastic cylinder
about 10" dia and 3' long reputedly full of toroids the other day.  Got
to be a hundred at least.   Wish I had a lead chipping knife I used to
open lead sleeves with, but I guess I will attack this with a hacksaw.

Hi Frank,

Instead of trying to saw the plastic, why not take an old kitchen paring knife that the XYL won't miss, and heat the blade to a dull red with a propane torch, then use that as a "hot knife" to cut the plastic. That might be considerably easier than trying to saw a tough plastic that has been reinforced with carbon black.
