Hi Folks:
I received my IRL FSK-1000 in the mail today. Knowing there
were some mods available for the unit, I decided before
powering it up, to open it and inspect the inside. I am
glad I did.
A large board, a Zitex SCT--100 video display board was
located in the upper portion of the unit, but had broken
free of its mounts during shipping (or before), and was
basically laying on the main board of the unit. By googling
the board, I was able to identify it.
Now, is anyone familiar with this modification? Have any
documentation? I suspect it was used to make the unit a
standalone terminal with composite video display...
Does anyone have any more information?
After unplugging the Xitex board, and powering up the unit,
it does what I expect it to, but of course, the real test
will be hooking it up to the 28 ASR and seeing if it is
100% operational. The only thing that makes me a bit
nervous, is the seller showed it with the meters lighted
and therfore plugged in. I hope the two boards touching
didn't damage the unit.
I have a gentleman who is going to send me some information
on the unit and its mods. Before doing much more, I will
have to wait until that is received.
