You were just a kid when the 3612.5 & 14075 autostart nets were in 
their peak.

There was no limit back then, it was just up to the presenter how 
long he wanted to type.

Also, you never got your ass in a sling with Irv, W6FFC.  If you 
rattled Irv the wrong way, the amount of copy which came out of your 
machine was directly proportional to how pissed he was.

I had a couple of thirty minute runs in my time, at full keyboard 
speed.  And Irv did not need paper tape unless he was so upset and 
furious that he needed to punch a tape because at 60 WPM the machine 
could not send fast enough for him. He was a consummate touch typist 
on any keyboard, and could keep up a conversation while typing 100 or 
more WPM.

The length of whatever comes over autostart is just part of the game, 
and I think imposing limits is just plain wrong.
