Nick - I had seen these pictures before somewhere. Thanks for noting the web site. I was on the other end of the island at Anderson AFB with the 1958 Communication Squadron in TTY maintenance from 1966 to 1968. We too had a torn tape relay for weather. It was not as elaborate the Navy set up I think there was about four banks of TD's and reperfs each with about six devices. I think the models were AN/FGC - 39. The typing perferators were model 14 type gear. I'm not certain of the models or count, that was a life time ago. Most of the equipment was Kleinschmidt in the comm centers with M28 gear at the weather center.
I do recall a bunch of us from the TTY shop going to the Navy dump to scrounge for Kleinschmidt parts. I don't recall all the details, but the Navy must have junked a bunch of parts. I remember picking up several new code ring cages and selector magnet assemblies there. I don't recall finding any Teletype Corp parts.
Thanks for the memory.
de Jim - K8ARY

Subject: [GreenKeys] Navy Torn Tape Relay Equipment
FWIW, I've started a web page for Navy Torn Tape Relay Equipment
http://www.navy-radio.com/tty-relay.htm
- so far I have some photos from NAVCOMMSTA Guam 1968-69, and spec
sheets on a few pieces of gear - will keep adding photos and info as I
accumulate it. Any corrections, additions, comments, etc. are welcome.
cheers,
Nick
