[GreenKeys] Just another dumb question

John - Regarding the port settings themselves I'm running 9600 9/none/
1 and that works just fine.

But one issue you may run into is that the port is actually running
"too fast" for DS-RTTY. I had that problem when I first hooked my
machine up. The symptom was that the received characters were not
printing to the screen in the normal way you would expect, i.e. a
rhythmic pace just like a real machine or display. Instead the
characters would print to the screen in "bursts" of several
characters for the lack of a better term.

The guys at Hal recommended the following fix which worked like a
charm. Go to that COM port's properties window in the device
manager and select the advanced settings tab. Then set the transmit
and receive buffer sliders to their minimum values (that's in XP, not
sure about any other version though). Once I moved those sliders all
the way to the left (slow) the character "print" problem went away
and all was good in the world.

Another thing I found was that DS-RTTY doesn't play well with USB/
serial adapters...you really need that COM1 true hardware serial port
hookup.

Hope this helps.
