Well...  I thank an uncle - who taught me that "technique" over 50 years 
ago.  He worked in the construction industry for many years, built his 
own house, and developed his own line of lighting fixtures (Carson 
Lighting, Inc. of California).  He was a "teacher" - in that I learned 
most of my early electrical theory from him as I watched him build his 
house and asked why things were done they way they were - and yes - he 
was a veteran, a tail-gunner in a US Navy plane during WWII...
