Well, some progress.  The platens are both the same diameter...just that one 
was more shorter to handle special narrow forms in a central office.

I got one end off...it was tough but got it pulled out.  The inside of the 
platen was filled with saw dust....I will refill it.  I have not gotten the 
other end off but if I must, I will put it thru a band saw and that will 
solve the problem.  The sproket feed pins and end pieces are useable and 
will convert the friction feed platen to sproket feed.

When I changed the sproket feed machine to friction several years ago, 
someone on here told me to save those parts....thanks for that advice.

All this because I've come upon several boxes of sproket feed paper so, of 
course, you modify the machine   LOL.
