After reading today's thread I thought that I would let everyone know
that I have begun the process of getting my cw speed up to about 22
wpm, so that I can go through the steps of attaining a 2nd class
telegraph license.

The need for the license was inspired by Dick Dillmen when I went
down to KPH/KSM to work on their machines.

I will therefore be pursuing a Marine Coastal Station License as
well.

The location here in the extreme Northwest of the U.S. would make
coverage of the bulk of the USA as well as Alaska, pretty much a done
deal, using just a dipole. I do not have the room for rhombics and
such, but do have a Steppir 40 meter driven element, and they can
take up to about 3KW.

Apparently once you have a Coastal license in hand you can do pretty
much anything you want as far as material goes.

Thus, Teletype over HF is on the horizon. Wish me luck.

For the folks who do not have internet access directly at their
location, I would suggest finding a nearby access point and running a
DC line, or put the ITTY audio over a phone pair, set the levels
accordingly, and just run remote audio. 4-5 miles is not a bad run.

Y'all have a nice week. "Tis now time for grandpa to cook breakfast
(crepes) for the troops.

73,

George - W7TTY
