Bus lines used ttys too. For a few years around 1967 I worked at the Short Line bus company which ran buses from the PABT (Port
Authority Bus Terminal) in NYC out the Lincoln Tunnel and up Route 17 through New Jersey into the Catskill mountains and beyond.
There were model 28s at the Port and a few main dispatch stations up the line including Paramus NJ and Mahwah NJ and Harriman NY.
They operated over private tie lines. Used them to tell the outstations about when buses left NYC, bus numbers, driver names, and
passenger loads. Dispatchers needed that info to manage traffic. Normally wasn't difficult but the traffic on Memorial Day and
Labor Day was crazy. Every bus that could run was full and there were extras with leased buses. Keeping track of them all
without radios, computers, or GPS was something the dispatchers were proud of.
