To all:
The UGC-129 is a very nice, compact TTY that can copy 45 Baud
5 level and up to 2400 Baud 8 level. It directly interfaces to a
20 or 60 ma. HV loop or MIL188 (ideal for those Tempest
Dovetrons). It uses "standard" TTY paper and ribbons.
There are two flavors: the ealier model has a "typehead" very
similar to a MITE...its print is not very clear, but it is readable.
The later version, I believe it's a V3, has a dot-matix printer.
This machine also has a RX and type-ahead TX buffer and I think
it also has some sort of SELCAL capability. The V3 has a
full-line flourescent display above the keyboard that's used for the
type-ahead buffer.
I've seen these things pictures in ICBM missle silos on the
History channel.
Hookup is not difficult.. those scary mil-type connectors are not
needed, unless your are a purist. It operates on 110VAC.
Fair Radio has manual copies for the V3 version...they are usable
for the "V1" version as far as hookup is concerned.
73,
Jack K0TTY
