Bob,
Vacation in DaNang, huh?
Well, in answer to the survey says report, I was first licensed in
about the same time frame as well, as WN4MZZ, then Conditional
a year or two later, as WA4MZZ. (I just don't have access to
all those files with the old license docs.)
A buddy of mine and I learned the FCC was doing FCC commercial exams
over at Augusta Tech (GA) and we got a Q&A manual and crammed for it.
Since he and I could both drive, that would have been about maybe
summer, 1964.
I passed elements 1, 2, and 3, so I got the 2nd Phone right off the
bat, and then sometime later, by summer of 1966, I had passed element
4, which gave me the First Phone and the Ship Radar, can't remember
the element number.
About three years ago, I upgraded the ham ticket to Extra.
73 Sheldon
WA4MZZ
