Got my First Phone back in 1966 in Baltimore, MD while in the Navy at
NSS (Xmtr site Annapolis). I remember setting through the third, then
the second and finally the first. The lady said I passed so I asked her
what days they gave the amateur extra. (Back then in Houston I believe
ham tests were given once a month or something like that). Anyway,
she said that I could take it right then and there. I did, and I have to
admit that the amateur extra was the hardest test of the day. I passed
but it was close. (I had not studied for it).

Only Navy school I went to in 6 years of active duty was Model 28
teletype school in Norfolk in 1965. Never had to fix a teletype after I
got out of school. Sure hate that all of those brain cells have died.

Was very active on RTTY with a Model 28 and ST-6 (and those that
came before) back in the 70's and 80's. I have been listening on the
RTTY on twenty meters lately and what a difference! Those guys do
not know what a line feed and a carriage return are used for! They
just stop typing and the next guy starts on the same line.

Enough of this. Thanks. 73...Herb K5HG
