[GreenKeys] Teletype paint color codes - more confusion

Thanks for this information Jerry,

The Navy did not like the MTT as it took a lot of space and was not
really designed for shipboard use.
About the time the Model 43 and 45 equipment was being produced
Teletype Corp came out with a standard magnetic cassette tape drive.
We had two of them (NOS) at our museum. Just about the size of a
bread box; the Navy used quite a number of this type.
They can be seen with other Model 40 and 45 equipment on at least one
of the Iowa Class Battleship museums.

Again, thanks for taking time to put out this information.

I recently posted a note regarding paint color codes for the Magnetic
Tape
Terminal (also called the Magnetic Tape Set). Teletype used a single
color
code to describe multiple colors for this device. The Magnetic Tape Set
could be used with Models 33, 35, 37, 38 and 40. It could also very
likely
be used with the Model 43 although there is no specific reference to
the 43.

Multi-Color Code Paint Plastic

BB - Black Semi Gloss, Smooth Vinyl

This information from BSP Sect. 578-300-800TC - Magnetic Tape Set Parts.
Note that paint code BB is described as Black Semi Gloss, Smooth Vinyl.
Paint code BB is usually described as a smooth enamel but here it is
described as a smooth vinyl.

If anyone has a Magnetic Tape Set, please contact me off list.

Finally, here are a few more grays to add to the list:

     Gray, Dark Covert FC

     Gray, Dark Metallic BW

     Gray, Maritime Engine BY

     Gray, Medium BS
(All 4 of these grays are smooth finish)

Regards, Jerry Murphy
