The Model 28 and 35 covers for perforators were the same.
Interchangeable.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my query on "Mystery M28D". (Most
of my
TTY experience has been with Kleinschmidts.) I'm learning that some of
these model number labels can be quite confusing and there are lots of
different flavors of the "model 28."

"Model 28D" was the "only" label that the guy saw when he checked it
out.
We will be getting this M28 (and a M33) in the next week or two and
then we
will know for sure what we have.

As far as strange labeling goes, the Museum has what I would call a
"Model
28 Perforator". Standard M28 keyboard and motor; all it does is punch
tape
(has a neat vacuum cleaner run by the motor to suck up the chad into the
chad bin). The label on the chassis identifies it as a "LKPE
500BSF". But
the label on the outside of the cover says "Teletype Corporation Model
34/35"

Who is confused??

Have fun,

the keyboard bas unit. Doesn't mean it's a D. Just uses that base
wiring
arrangement.
